Memoria presente: A Workshop for Educators about the Common Spanish Legacy in Italian and Latin American Cultures
The workshop addresses the connections between Italy and Latin America from a linguistic and cultural perspective:

It responds to a new professional landscape: positions in Italian language at the HS level are increasingly requiring knowledge of both Italian and Spanish; the LatinX student population in schools and universities is only growing; and 21st-century teaching calls for trans-language and trans-cultural approaches that are able to both leverage students' complex backgrounds and foster diversity and inclusivity.

The workshop aims at creating a network of educators, guidance counselors and student teachers interested in a trans-national approach to language and culture learning. After a presentation of the NEH-supported project Memoria Presente that reflects this approach and provides tools to apply it, the goal is to open a space of exchange about current needs and opportunities in this innovative field.
